Rule Of Thirds

The Rule Of Thirds; 

Is a compositional rule which is used in both photography and design; it shows us how mathematics can influence art. When using the rule of thirds, we must always remember the golden ratio; in both mathematics and the arts, two quantities are in the golden ratio if the ratio of the sum of the quantities to the larger quantity is equal to the ratio of the larger quantity to the smaller one. A great example of the golden ratio would be to understand the Fibonacci Spiral. Overall, the rule implies that if a picture is to be taken, we must take it as if it were divided into 9 equal parts with the main focus on the intersections of the parts. 

For this image, my target was to have her in the air, and I wanted the focus to be on her so the rule of thirds was applied and I used the top right intersection to bring focus to her. 

For this shot, I wanted complete focus towards the bear with a dark background, so, I used the rule of thirds and aligned the bear's left eye with the top left intersection of the grid. 

In this image, I wanted focus on the boy, so the rule of thirds was applied by more or less aligning his head with the top left intersection and his right foot with the bottom left intersection.
